Faulty Soundbar

Hi
I'm looking for some advice. I bought a soundbar from Argos last week at £39.99.
Its faulty & I don't have the receipt.
Having looked at reviews last night I decided to go for one slightly more expensive & pay the difference.
However, today the price has dropped top £29.99. I phoned Argos who told me they would only credit me with £29.99 as this is the lowest selling price.
Even if it goes back up to £39.99 next week, I will still only get the lower price.
Is this correct?

Did you pay by card? That is proof enough of purchase as they can match it up to the transaction on their own payment system.
No they have to refund you the amount you paid, 100% at this point as the item is faulty.
As the consumer rights act of 2015 states,
"Under the Consumer Rights Act you have a legal right to reject goods that are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described, and get a full refund - as long as you do this quickly.
This right is limited to 30 days from the date you buy your product. After 30 days you will not be legally entitled to a full refund if your item develops a fault, although some sellers may offer you an extended refund period. "0 -
No, it was a cash payment, someone actually got it for me.0

I've no idea to be honest. Argos are usually good at exchanging things. It's not like I want a refund, I was paying more money for a different one.0

The issue here is that there is no proof of purchase date, so they can choose to honour this new low price. If someone had been with the purchaser, that stands as legal proof of the purchase date.
You may have to take the hit on this one. You could always chance it in store and see if whatever staff member serves you, takes you on your word of the purchase date.0 -
Yep that's what I'm thinking. I can't even exchange it for the same make because it's not it stock.0

You're just going to have to take the hit on this. Or exchange it and stick with the model you've got.0
