Do I add extra ammunition to this

Hi just wanted an unbiased opinion on something.

I've just started following a lad at work on social media I now know they are using their company phone during work hours snapchat etc (strict policy on this not like its now and again its quite frequent) downloaded apps like facebook chat to work phone etc.

Do I raise this or should I just leave it. As much as they P*** me off I don't want someone to lose their job from my doing. They're going through performance issues and their work does affect me.

I would feel awful or do I just let them get found out.

  • Based on your other thread, you already know the answer and will be rude to anyone who disagrees with you.
  • You are being very unwise to mix your personal social media with anyone at work. I would stop following him, and any of your other colleagues, immediately.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

Do they report to you? If not, then I'd say nothing to do with you. And as jobbing says it isn't a good idea to mix social media and work. It's a bit weird that you get home in an evening and go through his profile...

Be the better person, lead by example and worry about your own life.

If you are aware of it, it's probable that others are too. It used to **** me off too when people at work were on their phones texting, on facebook or whatever. It was against our policy to use them too but senior managers were just as guilty as other staff, so hardly in a position to do anything about it.
If the individual is a direct report of yours then say something during their next 1-2-1, otherwise leave it.

Wouldn't !!!! me off and I wouldn't report it. Just get on with your own work, if he has performance issues and now conduct issues then it's up to the manager to deal with.

Keep out of it. Not your business, and pretty sneaky behaviour too.
  • Or you could take the adult approach and have a quiet word with him

Obviously if then he gets into trouble you can think 'well I warned you'.

But I'm sure a union rep or employment law friends could give you the correct answer

So you don't mind doing the work this individual isn't doing if they are spending time on social media in work time. How very kind of you.
