Insurance for older and medically challenging relatives

I'm really pulling my hair out with this, my in-laws are looking at coming to Spain for a week with us. They both have a number of medical conditions, heart, asthma and digestive related. They are both under ongoing medical treatment. They have had various quotes for insurance in the region of £500 for a week!
Their biggest issue is if they die whilst away will any medical insurance cover them if they die from these declared conditions.
They seem to suggest that they will not cover any claim from pre-existing conditions.
I'm of the opinion that if this is the case any insurance they by will cover a lost suitcase or wallet and not much more....
Is this correct?

Can't answer your question sorry but have always found these insurance companies helpful when you phone them - it is not always clear from the small print?
Having fallen extremely ill in Spain once and spending weeks in hospital there I was very grateful that I had good insurance. They organised everything to get me back home, paid for flights with wheelchair access, hotel for my partner, taxis to and from airport, they had video conferencing with the hospital etc. Can't say I am surprised they are looking at £500 a week!0 -
Mine is usually about £200 for a week which includes all my existing conditions. The peace of mind feeling you will be repatriated if anything goes wrong is worth it IMHO.
Decent cashback buying Columbus via Quidco/TCB as well, about 25%.I am a mortgage broker. You can sometimes find that the insurance offered with packaged bank accounts will cover people without further medical screening. They do have age limits, but your relatives may scrape through depending on actual age.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
