New Build roads

I'm simply asking if involving the Police is perhaps the correct way to deal with it, when the builder is not right, as they are blocking me from getting to my properly safely and without a claim arising for the damage of my personal property.
Ask yourself, has a crime been committed. If not, what do you expect the police to actually do for you?
The police are not there to assist you with damage claims to your personal property caused by anything other than a criminal offence.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
can you take a pic of the gap ?0

I suggest that you learn to drive properly.
Phoning the police-I can't believe you did that, and I am surprised they didnt say they would get round to your crime of the century when they have solved all of the murders, and robberies and have a spare minute.0 -
If the road is not adopted by the council it belongs to the builder. So you are telling the builder what he has to do to his roads to suit you.0

... (doesn't help I have a wide vehicle) - the alloys are on my 4x4 have been scuffed....
There is a lot of dislike for 4x4 drivers and their vehicles and must admit that I am one. Had my wing mirror removed by one a few months ago whilst outside a friends house, still in my car. Driver had mis-judged the gap and did not want to stop until saw that I was getting out and taking a picture of their retreating vehicle.I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
If you're going to complain about the width of the road whilst it's being worked on, I'd forget about the wheels on your vehicle, but instead point out that emergency vehicles would need the room to get past, if it is that narrow..
I suspect even on unadopted roads if there are residential properties the likes of the fire and ambulance services would require access and thus a minimum width or alternate route (although I'd imagine the builders would be leaving enough room for their own vehicles anyway).
Having said that I've seen people in 4x4's and even some smaller/narrower cars struggle to get through the anti lorry barriers near me (usually because the driver can't get his vehicle centred or is nervous), and I've also seen the likes of ambulances and vans go through at 20-30 with about 2 inches spare between their wheels and the kerb.0 -
Good point about emergency service vehicles (don't forget that the Council waste contractors will also need to pass the obstruction).
Delivery lorries, fire appliances and waste frieghters will normally just mount the kerb and drive with 2 wheels on the path to get past any such obstruction. Nothing stopping you doing the same.Never Knowingly Understood.

Also the fact that a 4x4 is surely sold as a "rugged" vehicle capable of going places where a normal car cannot. I'm sure most keen 4x4 owners would laugh at the thought of getting into trouble on a badly laid out housing estate road.0 -
Lots of new estates are abysmally laid out. On occasion I've driven my grandson to school. There is insufficient parking space allocated and with vehicles parked either side of the road it amounts to a single track for long stretches so the delays at school start and end times are huge. The real killer is that the same stretch of road is a bus route. I think the best choice of vehicle in that particular estate would be a Sherman tank.0
