they have understood incorrectly somewhere along the line.
there is no charge for a mandatory reconsideration..

as for the length of time it takes to repay an overpayment ...
yes, it can take years as the DWP are not allowed to cause hardship by taking it back at a high level

    Got to agree with this

It does sound as though there are some misunderstandings down the line.

Can you get a good look at the paperwork before they go to the MP. It seems very muddled and it would help all parties if there was some clarity when they go. I'm sure the MP will do their best to help but a clear paper trail would make life easier

It was only stopped for new claimants - women who had previously opted to pay the 'little' stamp could continue to do so right up until State pension age.

But the lady would come within 'new claimants', as she recently got her pension, so is quite a bit younger than me.

not sure about the pension, all i know is that what she said she was getting as she only worked part time,

I did some years of part time work, but doing under the 16(?) hours , 'signed on' for NI contributions (though I did want full time ).

It looks as though she did under these hours and failed to claim.(The system never was clearly explained. I didn't know about the second pension and how it was affected by short hours)
