I'm currently setting up a Swann Pro Series HD security system for a friend.
On the bench I have 4 cameras all connected to the main box and working fine. Really quick and easy to set up.
It's connected to a BT HH4.
I've downloaded the SwannView Link app for Android to my phone and that works as it should, within WiFi range.
The problem is trying to view the camera output via a laptop, Win 10 for info.
I've some experience of networking and have set everything to a static ip. I can log on using 192.168.1.100:85, which opens 192.168.1.100:85/NPClient.html?ipPort=9000, that brings up the correct page but camera output is missing.
I can ping the dvr.
I've spent 2+ hours Googling and messing about trying various settings in Internet Explorer, because that seems the favoured option, in particular ActiveX settings.
Any suggestions?
Ultimately they want remote access, I've managed to open port 85 and 9000 by putting the DVR into the HH DMZ.
I've had to use the DMZ because despite manually opening the ports, when I checked using an Open Port tool they showed closed.
I've even installed SwannView Plus on the laptop, it now partly connects but does not fully detect the dvr saying that it's timed out.
Any bright ideas that work, not ones you've just Googled please. :)

edit: I forgot to say, I've temporarily tried it with all firewalls turned off, also toggled the upnp buttons on the router and dvr.

When i had similar problems with our cctv system, it turned out to be group policy blocking the installation of an active x control that the box was trying to feed to it..
I fixed it by downloading the specific control from the web and manually installing it.

Do you get a pop-up asking to to install active-x control when you first visit the admin page ?

I've had a play in the past, so was expecting a prompt about Active-X, that was why I opted for Internet Explorer.
No prompt for active-x this time.
I've read posts that it only works on XP, but find that hard to believe in this day and age.
I did have a prompt about a utility called DvrWebClient to download and install, this occurred with IE and Palemoon, just tried and it also prompts with Edge.
    Each time I've installed it.

After you have installed it, do you get any messages like "an installed active x component failed to run" ?

Couple of things that may help :

add 192.168.1.100 into the trusted site list
    Try IE in compatibility view
press f12 from within IE and set the document mode and user agent string to "ie8"

I take it you have registered and completed details in the DDNS portal?
Mine has add device then user name where you have device tree. Then list of cameras
Have you tried double clicking the cameras or clicking the play button on each individual screen?

No mention of any active-x components at all.

I've added the address to the compatibility view. Nothing.
    Will try the last suggestion.

DDNS is for connecting from outside the local network, I'm struggling to connect inside.
Stupid thing is, Android phone using the app, connects fine on local network via WiFi.

ps. Thought internet was slow, effing Win 10 Update has installed their HP 8610 wifi printer to my laptop! Not a hint of what it was doing!

I brought dvr and one camera back home with me.
I used a spare Netgear RP614 router and and fired up an ancient Clevo laptop running XP.
This time with IE 8 I did get the ActiveX prompt and a warning about an unsigned certificate.
I manually installed the certificate, which allowed the ActiveX to install.
All firewalls were off, tried port forwarding also upnp.
    Still no video.
So it's connecting on port 85, because I'm getting the control panel and can alter the dvr configuration from the laptop.
Video appears to be on 9000.
    Given up.:(

  • Have the same system scrapped in a box.
Cheap Chinese junk with translated golbydegook instructions and 1980's software and drivers.

Bought the phillips system, works straight out of the box first time.
I do Contracts, all day every day.

    Well eff me!
Went back today to put up the cameras, and worry about the full access later.
Having a break, I reset IE 11 in Win 10 to defaults, deleted all plugins etc that I'd installed using RevoUninstaller.
Restarted the laptop, put 192.168.1.100 into *compatibility view, it all works, even using Palemoon.
*Don't even need to do this.
    Move along, nothing to see.
