Bad insurance...

Hi

So my fiance's parents have asked him to insure thier vehicle under his name and then they will pay that price because they have bad records from thier cab company they had. I think they should just suck it up and pay for it in thier own name instead of asking us to take the risk.

But anyways, they want the insurance under Jon(my fiance)'s name even though they own the car, so they can drive it whenever, and on the insurance just be considered the secondary driver so its cheaper for them. Is this legal? I'm not feeling so good about it.

HELP!!!

No its not legal. You have to declare the main driver for a start so to say that is your fiance is a lie.

If he does this and they have accidents, it is his no claims that will be lost and him that will find his future premiums sky high or even find himself uninsurable.

Jon's parents need to learn to take responsibility for their own actions, I am sure they expect him to. It is not his fault they have problems, as you say they need to do it under their own names.

I really hope you can persuade your fiance not to get involved in this. I foresee heartache ahead.

It's actually a lot worse than this. This is classic "fronting".

This is a case of fraudulent misrepresentation - a deliberate attempt to mislead the insurer to gain financial benefit. The policy is potentially void from inception (the start of the period of cover) and no resultant claims will be payable.
