Draughty window

Hi,

We have OLD upvc windows in our living room, it is a bay window and one of the opening windows has a big gap down the side opposite the closing side, which lets a lot of cold air through.

We are hoping to do building work next year, so the window will be replaced then, but can I use the self adhesive door foam strips in the gap? Or just tape over it with masking tape? It doesn't need to open in winter, and you wouldn't be able to see the tape etc as hidden by the curtains

If it is going to be replaced soon and the aesthetics don't offend you in the meantime then I'd put Duck tape over the gap.

I used thick white electrical tape on one of my windows for over a year. The hinge was partially seized so I never opened it anyway. Once the tape was on there were no more draughts and you couldn't even see the tape.
