O/S Daily Tuesday 6 December 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Still dark, foggy and very frosty.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg, tonight fish is on the menu but don't want to give the menfolk chips again, so will make some wedges and they'll have fish, wedges and beans/veg.

Work yesterday was manic late morning, but then eased off, but we're getting loads of the same enquiries and yesterday every other person was in a bad mood and was wanting an argument. I was doing a slightly different job and didn't have too many problems with the people I dealt with but we'll have to see how today goes.

On a brighter note, I managed to call in to big SM on my way into work yesterday, and took advantage of the 25% discount if you buy 6 bottles of wine, yesterday was the last day, selected 12 bottles - got to the cashier and was saying I'd got another voucher but didn't think I could have both - she duly scanned it through and it deducted the amount - so I'm very happy as I've got my xmas wine and one of the bottles is for my bestie to go with other bits I've already got, so that has finished her present off.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Not as cold this morning, yesterday was bitter all day. When I got home the thermostat was showing 10.5 degrees inside - that's what happens when the builders leave all the doors open! Felt it was just getting warm when it was time to go to bed. Thank goodness I have the log burner so at least the living room warmed up quickly.

The kitchen is now plastered ready for the first coat of paint and the flooring should arrive today. There is progress but looks slow even though the builders are working flat out. I'm sure now all the big work is finished it will come on quickly.

Hugs to all those in need, hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

Mild again, think the week may be good.

Camelot - the work is being done really fast, just seems a long time for the mess. What a great builder you have so it won't be long until it's a gleaming and beautiful.

After my very productive day yesterday I'm aiming for not doing too much today. I've got to take my HMRC refund cheque to the bank, I don't understand why they can't refund by bank transfer.

I hope all poorlies are getting better.

    Happy Tuesday.
  • Morning folks and thanks for the start NMLC. It doesn't feel quite so cold this morning. The fog is still with us though, horrible stuff.

My 4.00 a.m. in-built alarm woke me as usual. I get sick of it and long to sleep through.

DB's MIL passed away yesterday. 8 days after the hospital said the end was imminent. The family have been with her nearly all the time, day and night since but, sod's law, there was no-one there at the end.

I have a much needed hair appointment at noon. Now I have it short it forever needs cutting. I am hoping she will be on time as it's the youngest DGD's nativity at 2.00 and can't go without lunch!

The phlebotomy clinic was horrendously busy yesterday, I had an hour to wait. It'll be worse waiting for the result though.

Have a good day if you can and (((HUGS))) to all in need/want of them. So many on here too with the horrible cold and cough that's doing the rounds. Take care all xx

  • Morning all, a quick hello before I venture out into the fog.

I was meant not to be working yesterday but had to go out and attend to a crisis and I will probably need to continue dealing with that today, though am meant to be on a Service Day, which is a 3 line whip jobbie.

TA I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss. Hope your blood test results come back swiftly.

I must get wiggling. Love to those who would like some, especially the poor lies. I am still snotting for England but that pales into insignicance knowing what others are going through.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Good Morning chums, and a busy day ahead I have coffee morning at U3A then a quick bit of food shopping (my first this month :)) then DDs after lunch as her dogs not well, and I promised I would be around .My son-in-law had to take him to the vets yesterday, and it turns out he has a detached retina in his eye.

We will have to take him down to Folkestone at some point to set a veterinary eye chap there and see what can be done I hate to think how much that will cost.

Its all pay out for us all this month .Poor DD has had a run of things going wrong at the moment bless her. Their vet said he wasn't sure if the dogs eye problem was inherited or if it was an injury. They have had him since August and he was a rescue dog.Great big lanky lurcher but with a lovely nature.

<<hugs>> to those in need and who are going through a hard time at the moment

right must get a wriggle on and have some coffee to kick start my day

    Cheers chums

PS on the brighter side DGS Jack has managed to get himself a weekend job at a local shopping precinct in a restaurant, so at least he is a happy bunny

    Morning everyone,

Dry but foggy and cold here, had a rotten nights sleep again and feel like a wet rag.

We did manage to take Mum into town yesterday as she was desperate to visit a jewellers, if you remember she was putting boxes together for all the bits she would like to bequeath and there was a couple of minor mending jobs that needed doing. Two of these were sorted straight away but one piece needed sending away so will wait to hear. It took no more than an hour to get into town and back but DM was shattered and slept most of the afternoon.
This morning will take her back to DB's and then maybe have a day to myself tomorrow, mentally it's really quite tiring and could do with a bit of time to just be.
Condolences to your family TA x
Get better vibes to all poorlies and gentle hugs to those going through a tough time.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x
  • Ooh good bargaining nlmc. What about mash with the fish?

10.5! Brr Camelot, I'd be hugging the log burner!

Good luck for your results TA and have a nice time at the nativity. Sorry to hear about your DB's MIL. They were with her throughout before that, and that's what matters.

Aww poor doggy JackieO. I love lurchers. They have the most beautiful temperament. I like the fact they're so lazy! Haha.

Work and dentist for me today. I need to clean the lounge and see if I can hop my laundry into mum and dad's tumble dryer. I've got a bit of a back up. Hopefully I can make a dent into the work back log. Tis difficult dealing with volunteers and everyone thinks I'm just there for a chat, whereas I have SO much to get through. Right time to throw the child at the school gates.
