FirstDirect mortgage application - how long?

Hello,
I've got an agreement in principle with First Direct, and have just returned my signed application form.
I understand the next stage is for the underwriters to assess the application.
Does anybody have experience of how long this stage might take?

I've recently taken a mortgage with FD - earlier this year it was around 4 week from the application to being accepted.
I had to chase them a few times though. The underwriters had some questions but it took me ringing them to get it sorted0 -
I have just had my application sent to first direct underwritters - do all first direct mortgages go through underwritters?
Any idea of how long from underwritters to offer based on your own exp?
Thanks for any help! 😊0 -
Replied on other post - but yes FD manually underwrite EVERY mortgage application. I am hoping its what they said to me 3 day turnaround once with underwriters.0

I think the good thing with FD/HSBC is that once you're on their mortgage books - its very rare you would move - they are ALWAYS in the top 5 for rates with existing/new customers. So I more than likely will just keep product switching during renewal season0

Did you get your mtg offer sent?0

If you apply for a FD mortgage how long is the offer valid for?
My fixed rate ends on 31 October 2017 and am not sure when I should apply.Cashback earned
Quidco : £858
Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.0 -
hey, the offer is valid for 6 months.
i just recieved my offer in the post today.0 -
awesome - underwriters are yet to review my case - they are currently working cases submitted a couple of days ago aparently. Do you have more forms to sign and return? Is it just standard direct debit forms etc in the offer letter pack?0

I've gone for the 2.44 fixed which is the top of tables but keep reviewing in case fd reduce it further0

nope, all the same as the stuff ive recieved before in the mortgage report and key financial facts.
you dont have to sign it and send it back, you just have to ring if no longer want it.
no direct debit stuff, maybe because im already a customer? the offer does say theyll take payment out of my account each month but doesnt indicate a date yet.
so now its down to the solicitors to do their part! and hopefully that will be me!0
