That depends entirely on the clients you work with, or for.

I agree that outsourcing bits can save you time, but to get good work you have to pay, and OP expressed an interest in freelance, you gotta know how to do the work to get good. Then you wont need to hire people, except for something someone requests that you just don't do.... e.g. heavy development work.

I don't disagree with what you are saying there, but if you get let down, you gotta know how to fix it. If the site goes down, you gotta know how to restore the database, files. So many things to consider.

Also you have to be able to trust people you let work on your clients servers etc.

Where can you get good coders for $10 a day? I would love to know...

That is really bad advice as you will only see a tiny part of it, they could be accessing libraries you see nothing of.

    What a Script Kiddie!

If you need to see how other do things use the open source community, for example Wordpress is open source and as such so are all add-ons.

So if you want to design say a social sharing button, download one of the plethora of plugins from Wordpress that do this, then sure examine the total code in PHP and decide if you can improve.

Then write your own or decide to use the one you have seen.

The same applies to Wordpress templates, they can help you understand CSS and other design layout methods.

Wordpress didnt exist back then. You could use AOLPress i guess.. :)

CSS, again nope not yet released.

Script kiddie, not quite but i do think outside the box and the sort of person to find all your orphaned php files just waiting to be dissected.
As someone found out when i could tell them exactly how many users and the usernames of everyone logged into their site at that moment in time.

They should have started with COBOL :)

Thanks, plenty of info to try and take in now.

I didnt think web developing would be as much complicated to get into as it seems, originally I thught it would be a cause of studying, getting a qualification and getting a junior role. Obviously not.

I was following codecadmey, but im trying codeschool at the moment, I find codeschool easier with the video explanations

David, I'll reply to your PM shortly, thanks for that.

At almosy 30 I was hoping i'd be able to change into this field, if I was to get decent enough at it, a couple of people have said it shouldnt be an issue, but if it is, I'll take it and still be good to learn alongside my current job.
