Ebay Issuing Automatic Refunds

Created a return as the item wasn't as described; get presented with this:

I don't even want the item but a good result. Far less faffing.

I would imagine there's more to it than meets the eye. The seller has perhaps sold an entire batch of dodgy items and has tried to cut and run. I've had that before resulting in an instant refund.

The seller might have auto-refund set up for when someone asks for a refund. It might be for all items or just ones under a certain value.

I agree, there is an option for sellers to have a refund automatically applied as soon as a case is opened. All that has happened is that the seller feels it is cheaper to do that than to spend time handling situations independently.

I got this a few months back.

Wondered if it may also only apply to buyers under a certain percentage of returns, as it was the first return I'd opened.

No, it's set up by the seller, as above.
