Yes, but it isn't always so clear cut - Ok so my circumstances are unusual but for me at least there is a way. My PV and battery set up are paying for themselves quite nicely - and as others have said for this year at least better than expected. I get FIT and use Octopus Go for import so I"m not going to move to an SEG tariff.
On a sunny day (with passing occasional cloud) the house battery can be used to smoothen out the peaks and troughs into the car battery knowing that the overall day will be adequate to keep the house battery full and trickle charge the car battery at whatever rate I choose as most appropriate (6amps and up). Any excess top up can be done overnight.
So it's a benefit of the PV and battery set up I didn't anticipate. However, I agree, not a sole reason for going down the PV route but as PV is looking more and more worthwhile, I think it could be an extra 'business case' for those with a BEV.Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. I`m still in discussion with them, but I can`t see them dropping as far as £6.5k. From the off I`d hoped for a price in that region as well.3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0 -
