Solarchaser said:Wait till you have your third. Then see on a sunny day they are all fully charged by 10am, and you think.... oh it would be nice if I had more......I agree but 3 fully charged easily see me through to the next day. Of course having 4 would probably seem me through the next dull day as wellI bought 4 but gave one to my son as he only bought 2... I think 3 each is going to be more efficient than a 4/2 split obviously much better for him!Never seen them full that early in the day but today starting off at 58% so so well on the way before any charging3.995kWP SSW facing. well tbh 3 doesn't see me through to the next day,(wife loves her white goods, sorry OUR white goods) 4 generally would, but then you hit on your point.... what if the next day is dull, but I sent all that free energy to the grid yesterday and now I have to buy it back.... this is how I've ended up with 8 😂😂West central Scotland

Not sure I would EVER hit payback if I had 8.... but thats not why we have bought in it is it?It would be perfect if we could share out power with designated people.. I have a large garage so could hold plenty of batteries here and share the excess with my son who uses much more than we do3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch (£3.36 /W).

Well I'm probably quite a high user, averaging about 20kwh a day.
The last few days have been pretty sunny, never filled all the batteries, but got pretty darn close.
However I've still managed to use 6kwh from the grid over the last two days, even though the batteries haven't been flat.
I'm blaming a mixture of the lux fighting each other rather than working in parallel as I was told, 🤬 and the 10kw shower drawing more than the 7 kw the two lux can supply.
Yeah I've went beyond being able to justify on payback, I'm justifying it as part of a process to move away from gas usage, so needing a bigger buffer to cover the oven etc on the 4-7pm expensive time on octopus agile (when they eventually switch me over).... thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it 🤪West central Scotland

Have you made any enquiries about having the gas supply terminated? If so, did you get presented with a cost for doing so?

No I haven't my friend. Thats still a few year's away for me unless I suddenly come into a lot of money, or there is an incentive package.
I'm using around 8000kwh of electricity a year. But 14000kwh of gas.
I've spent probably more than I should have on batteries etc over the last 18 months.
My process is the following, last week ordered a new electric oven to replace the 2 year old gas one.
Later this year or early next year, buy a thermal store, turning off the hot water supply from gas boiler, and taking away both electric showers.
Heating the store by a mix of excess solar and cheap agile electric.
The year after, if all goes well, buy another thermal store to use for the central heating.
I'm betting on the grid seeing the benefit of more and more wind power and that overnight we will see lots more of the ridiculously low/negative pricing due to said wind power, and so i can use this to heat the store.
Perhaps even moving to underfloor heating, we have it in the bathrooms and its great, plus it does away with ugly radiators.
It means disconnection from the gas grid is still 2-3 years away for me, at best.
Well that's the plan..... we shall see how it survives engagement with the enemy 😂😂West central Scotland
