    Hi folks,
I've managed to get some partial integration with solcast, if anyone feels like experimenting and want some tips!

    What I have so far:
    * Updates of actuals sent to solcast, so that they can tweak the predictions for my site
    * Cumulative solar estimation in kwh for the next day. At the moment, this is sending me a telegram notice daily at 8pm, and I can use a telegram bot I have to update the variables in octolux such as required state of charge. This last step is manual.

    What I don't yet have
    * Building the automated logic to have octolux adjust variables such as required SOC, cheap_charge etc based on the next day solar prediction and energy rates. I have all the data flowing in automatically, just haven't had the chance to map out every scenario so as to take actions from this data.

I likely won't do the latter just yet - but if you are a smaller energy consumer then this step is a looooot easier as you have fewer scenarios. In my case with my house baseline at over 2.5kwh, at the moment it doesn't reaaaally make sense to automate the last bit, as everything generated is consumed by me or the batteries.

Zarch is your man for this stuff. 👍

Big result with the problem battery this morning, it's up at 98% with the other 2 at 100%.  :)
Even better, the sun is back out so I think I'll dump some of the Pylons charge into the EV to make room for some surplus pv.
Thanks for persuading me to keep going with this Joe, looks like it's paid off. 👍

Just thought i'd put something down in print.  Hope this helps and is useful to someone.

Pleased to report the 3rd Pylon I bought recently (2nd hand) is now charging to 100% and is perfectly in sync with the other 2.  :)
Best day with the pv and batteries so far ........

The recent upturn in the weather has seen me use minimal grid power so my cost will inevitably be more standing charge than power.  3 batteries work well for me.  The graphic below shows that 80% of my usage is provided from the PV and battery.  I have also exported 75 kWh to the grid!
This from install on 13 Feb... the first couple off weeks were disappointing but certainly picked up recently

    3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch (£3.36 /W).
    17 Yingli 235 panels
    Sunnyboy 4000TL inverter
    Sunny Webox
Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since.

13 Feb 2020 LUX AC 3600 and 3 X Pylon Tech 3.5 kW batteries added...

20 January 2024 Daikin ASHP installed

Yes, i'm coming to the conclusion that 3 batteries will be my best fit too.

I'm finding with just 2 that I have to accept I will import, even with solar generating all day.
They get full, but 4.8kWh isn't quite enough........ that third will be the sweetspot.

Hi Zarch, a 3rd Pylon definitely makes a difference, particularly with the full 3.6kw ouput.
I believe the seller I got my 3rd one from still has another 2nd hand one for £600.
PM me if your interested and I'll send you his details. 👍
