MSE Energy Site - LOST THE PLOT
I came to this site today to see if I can find a cheaper energy deal but there was a problem.
All I wanted to do was enter my figures and see a list of suppliers with prices.
First the site blocks content by asking me to join the newsletter.
Then after some navigation I get to this page
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity
All very interesting but INFORMATION OVERLOAD, I just want to search
The only word of COMPARING was the top picks comparison so I click the link and it takes me to some damn page about an energy club
I do NOT want to join an energy club, I JUST WANT TO COMPARE.
I do not know what happened to this site but I am not ready to give up my data until you give up the goods, i.e. CHEAP PRICES.
I am off to Uswitch (no I will not go to Money Saving Supermarket because they are the same company and I will not reward this behaviour).
I hope SOMEONE at MSE can just create a link where I can search, no club, no grabbing my email, just a search.

Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue.:)

By joining MSE CEC you will automatically be included in all future collective switches. You will also be eligible for a share of the referral fees from some suppliers. If that is not of any interest to you, then you can get the information that you require from any Ofgem-accredited comparison site. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. The Citizens Advice Bureau switching site doesn't store any data and is quick and easy to use https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/0

The whole world is interested in your energy consumption figures so it is important to keep them safe....Je suis sabot...0

I am registered for alerts from MSE if I'm paying more than the cheapest deal. Got one such email today. EVERY supplier listed is more expensive than my current deal, though they are all shown as able to save me money - and yes, the details of my current deal are correct on the site. Poor.0

They will usually save you money if you transfer onto your present suppliers Standard variable tariff at the end of your fix
It may not be what you'll do, but no one out there knows that, so OFGEM have decided that you might not switch again, so insist that savings are calculated as though you won't.
Stupid maybe, but that's the rules because the vast majority of consumers don't actually switch at all - everNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Hi drewstew,
That doesn't sound quite right. Is it possible that you have two Cheap Energy Club accounts? Sometimes we see that our users may have an old account they'd forgotten about which has out-dated current tariff information, and so the savings email would be in relation to this account instead.
Another thing to look out for is if you have the 'Show only tariffs with no standing charge' box ticked on the results page. If this box is ticked, you'll be shown a limited number of tariffs and not a full market comparison. Untick the box, click refresh and you should then be shown a full market comparison.
If you don't think that either of these apply to you, then drop us an email to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com and we can have a look into this further for you!
Thanks,

Hi EdwardB,
I'm afraid that at the moment it's not possible to run a comparison on our site without creating a Cheap Energy Club account.
The idea of Cheap Energy Club is that you create an account, run a comparison, switch if you choose and then we'll keep you alerted to any future savings you can make. Based on the information provided in your account, each month we'll do a background comparison for you to see if you're still on the cheapest tariff. If you're not, we'll send you an email to let you know!
However this isn't to say that just being able to run a comparison isn't a feature we wouldn't consider putting on our site in the future.
Thanks,

Hi matelodave,
We agree that this isn't the best way to show comparisons and so don't assume that you'll roll onto your supplier's standard tariff once your fix ends. On Cheap Energy Club we allow you to toggle your savings so that you can compare the full 12 months of your current fix against what's currently on the market.
Thanks,

Not really sure of the benefit of this. This facility is already on your parent site, and the CEC uses that same data anyway.
If EdwardB would just like a comparison, without the bells & whistles that the CEC offers, then just direct him to your parent site if you want to ensure the MoneySupermarket Group still gets their commission for any resultant switch (or direct him to any other of the comparison sites listed in the appropriate MSE article if you want to help him maximise his possible cashback for switching via them)0
