Straightening sockets

Some of the double sockets in our house are a bit wonky. Some are barely noticeable but others are much more obvious. Would it be a case of adjusting the faceplate or does the backbox also need fiddling around with?

backbox is probably put in at an angle, you are looking at chiselling round the edge , refitting , making good etcEx forum ambassador

If there a little bit out you can normally manipulate the screw collars to get them more level. If its quite a bit out you'll need to adjust the back box.0

The back box has two lugs that the screws screw into. One of these is designed to have a few millimetres of movement up and down, the other is fixed.
Just loosen both screws and grip the front plate with both hands, one on the left and one on the right and see which side has the most movement. Then move that side 'till it's level and screw down.
If that doesn't allow the plate to level, you'll need to break the backbox free and re site it. Perhaps a job better suited to an electrician.0
