Morning everyone.
Day off for me today but I wanted to get up at my usual time and seize the day, so I write to you from the comfort of my bed!
Going to have a prodcutive one today in which I'll nip into Glasgow and get a bit of Xmas shopping done. In typical Xmas fashion, I've written a list and checked it twice.
I'll check back on later but in the meantime have a nice day everyone.0 -
Morning everyone,
Heavy white frost this morning, bbbrr cold but lovely to look out on, good choice on the carol TRU!
Will be thinking of you this morning TA x
Hugs to all poorlies and those heavy of heart & struggling, take care folks x0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's very cold but dry, no frost which is great. I am just about to go and get ready to go out with my lovely CMHT lady. We are going to the next town and tackling B & M looking for stocking fillers. I am dreading it but want to go and get it over with at the same time.
DD16 is home today but everyone else has left for work/school. I need to buy the girls some gloves as their hands are getting frozen on the walk to school. DD15 has asked for some hangers as well instead of using the floordrobe.
A couple of my fingers have gone numb and it is most disconcerting. I hope the feeling comes back today. It feels weird to type with them.
Steak pie, roast potatoes and mixed veg with gravy for tea assuming Tesco delivers it :rotfl:. I didn't get round to sorting out my bedroom so that is on the agenda for today.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning all,
Awful night for me, it took me ages to get to sleep and I had disturbed fitful sleep all night. Given I had so many good sleeps recently this was statistically expected. I am pretty sure a lot of it is related to having eaten stuff that doesn't agree with me, party food full of sugar, dairy etc and a few glasses of wine. I am going to accept that there is a price to pay for "fun" food and a few drinks.
Maybe the price in wellbeing -or lack thereof - is getting too high these days and I would be better off (but boring and very "Gwynneth Palthrow-like" at least in the eyes of others) eating only healthy food.
TA good luck with your tests. Just wanted to let you know I have finished reading The Dandelion Years, loved it and now can't wait to visit Bletchley Park!
Tai chi this morning, then DD will be here for lunch then work with the kids in the afternoon. No specific plans made for meals but they will revolve around squash and cavolo nero, both of which need using up.
Well wishes to all the poorlies, hugs to those who need them xx
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Morning((((((((( hugs)))))))))) A very heavy frost last night, it looks like it snowed.
Late waking, OH was still asleep so I did hid brekkie and brought it through. I made bread yesterday, put a second loaf in overnight, will slice and freeze it tomorrow. I find the re slices better if it has 'stood' for a day.
Bed to strip, will put the washer on overnight tonight, then I can hang it out first thing, it might dry, the forecast is for a decent day.
Went to the fabric warehouse yesterday, got the fabric for a quilt/playmat, I can cut most of it with the 'go' cutter, saves my hands. It will be something to do over the holiday. Need to finish it for the baby shower at the end of January, I am not going, it starts at 5pm, I do not drive in the dark. My younger daughter is going, so I will give the parcel to her.
Cauliflower and broccoli gratin for supper tonight, with jacket spud and baked tomatoes. Need to dream up a pudding.
Hester I am so glad that you managed to re mortgage, that was a huge chunk of cash going out each month, it will give you breathing space, hope you get some better nights sleep now.0 -
Morning everyone, a cold, frosty one here.
Hello Nelski!
I woke at 1.52 precisely, needing the loo and couldn't get back to sleep, partly because I was cold but mostly because I have now got a cold and am all bunged up. Rats. I am having today off as I have to work on Thursday and am meant to do some present shopping. I'll see how I feel in a while.
I have made some fingerless gloves for friend, partly an avoidance tactic as have been asked to make a very tiny green brontosaurus oh dear.
Dinner last night was roast pork etcetera and I ate quite a bit before giving up. I have to stop leaving the parts of a meal that I like best to the last as I don't seem to get round to them so hand them over to gannet-like persons.
Today's dinner will be a mystery until I get inspired, not likely to happen so could be a bit boring. Trouble is that the gannets want large amounts of meat and I don't like meat very much. I could make spaghetti with meatballs or lasagne.
Love to those who need some and I hope we all have a decent day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Tru, my DS always says socks and boxers when you ask him what he wants for Christmas, it's exasperating. His wife got him a subscription to a company that sent him 3 pairs of socks every month last year so he really doesn't need any this year. We usually end up buying him some kind of tool because he enjoys his diy but it's his hobby, not like your son.
DD and her DH came over on Saturday night and stayed till last night. They are still sleeping at a friends while their house is renovated so they like to give them some space at the weekends. We also had friends of theirs over for lunch, I made butternut squash soup and bought a selection of cheeses because she is vegetarian. They have two little ones -3 and 10months, although when I asked the little girl how old her brother was she said "he's a zero, he hasn't got a number". I must admit my hat goes off to those of you who have grandchildren to look after regularly although I suppose if I ever have any I'll childproof my house which will save a lot of jumping up and down.
The tree is almost decorated, I love seeing all the baubles I've collected on my trips, or that the chidren have brought me back from theirs. I have decorations from Russia, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Australia, Iceland, Latvia, Dubai and Germany to name a few.0 -
I have been in Liverpool visiting youngest and had a lovely time. I forgot how bad train travel on Sunday can be and eventually got home around five p.m. Two other dds had put up a tree in the conservatory and hung fairy lights round the living room window frame which was so sweet of them.
Great to be in my own bed last night and slept really well so having a lazy day to recharge my batteries. There is home made pea and ham soup for lunch and will have something simple like an omelette tonight. We had a couple of lunches out, a dinner and I had a hotel breakfast so think simple food is the way to go now I am back home.
tru
I love to see the carols.
TA
Good luck with the blood test today.
Hugs to all especially Lainy, coxy, hilstep and LW and LWW."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

DD gave me a pack of Mr T's cooking bacon, they have 500gm packs in store at the moment for 60p
:):) am using some in the lentil and bacon soup. The rest will be frozen to use cooked into crispy cut up bits for Panini's in the school holidays for my DGS even if you cut the fat away 500 gms is over one pound of bacon for 60p OK it isn't as pretty as rashers but in a sarnie or panini it doesn't matter.
I will do my first shop of the month tomorrow and I'm going to get another pack or two to freeze0
