Possessions travel insurance

I agree that a lot of people take iPads abroad. Most will either self insure or have it covered under their home insurance.
You're comparing a travel policy to a home contents policy with contents away from home extension. Chalk and cheese.0 -

But both Photoguard and Aviva are home contents policies?
I guess self insurance is their best bet but would have made more sense if they hadn't paid for insurance every time in the past...0 -
If the alternatives do the same thing at half the price then go for the alternatives. If they don't do the same thing, or do what your friend needs, then they are not alternatives.Seems expensive when alternatives for 90 days' cover plus unlimited trips for the rest of the year (instead of 91 days) are half the price. Photoguard is also only £24.
Are they doing almost the same thing?See above. How can other insurers do almost exactly the same thing for a fraction of the price?0 -
I thought Photoguard was an equipment policy. At £24 I don't think it is even worldwide.
It's for photography-related equipment at an address. i.e. the contents of your address and, with these quote specifications we used, is equivalent to home contents. Point is, we weren't "comparing a travel policy to a home contents policy".
And yes, £24 for three months is unlimited days worldwide. As I said, it seems self-insurance is their only viable option unfortunately but thanks for the help.0 -
Remember there is a huge difference between self-insured and uninsured.
At least they have option such as Aviva and probably plenty of others.0 -
Can they not just take 90 days cover and be uninsured for 1? Or does it depend on travel dates only and not work like that?
I know with motor policies that give, say, 30 days EU travel and you go for, say, 31, then cover usually just drops down from comp to TP only for the remaining day.
Just a thought, might be impossible and completely wrong.0
