the scratches are so minor they would be very easy to repair but his insurance will certainly charge me a fortune for that.
I don't think you know what a proper repair costs. I'd want the car back in the condition it was before the accident.
I Used a damp cloth and they were nearly all gone!
Nearly gone??? I would want them all completely gone so there wasn't even the teeniest wee bit of a mark left.
What you feel is acceptable might well be totally unacceptable to many people. (like me probably)
Be prepared for a hefty bill.
If it's a company car or a lease car you damaged and the other party doesn't seem to care much, he will be when he's penalised when he hands it back.0 -

I speak from experience when I say £300. That said, I went to an independent garage because it was my boss who hit me and I didn't want to go down insurance route.... for obvious reasons.
It was a wing.0 -

Yes I wish that there was a "busybody" around when someone badly scratched my car trying to reverse into a space behind me in Exeter on Saturday. I spent the next day trying to polish out the scratches, but it still left several deep marks in the paintwork. Thanks to whoever did this.0

Been there. Someone reversed into my car the day after I bought it.0 -
I was left with a £90 bill for "just a few scratches" caused by a careless parker, not a fortune but a lot of money to me. I do wish somebody had noted their details and given me the information.0
