EBICO call

Just had a call from an obviously Indian-located call centre chappie claiming to represent my gas supplier EBICO who I am moving from to Scottish Power. Started trying to talk me round into staying but was quoting rates for first 1193 kWh and then X thereafter but EBICO AFAIK have only one rate for gas - I checked online afterwards. Rates quoted were 2.93p per KwH for 1st 1193 units and 2.08p thereafter and for electricity 12.51p for first 364 units and 8.31p afterwards. A dual fuel discount of 1.5% was offered as well.

Although I declined as I don't sign up via unsolicited phone calls as a matter of principle my suspicion is that this is a Southern Electric thing as it matches some SE tariffs which obviously EBICO won't do.

BTW I'm moving to Scottish Online Energy Saver 4 based on Monthly DD with £55 Quidco cashback now validated. This saves me £90 approx pa compared to Scottish for Electricity and EBICO for Gas.

Anyone else had these calls ?

  • It is possible it was a call from Scottish and Southern trying to retain your custom but if this was the case it certainly wouldn't be from a call centre in India as SSE only have call centres in the UK
