How much do you pay for energy?

Hi All,

I currently pay about £650 a yr to EON for Gas and Electricity. Due to dwindling saving, I have decided to cut all outgoing waste.

How much do you pay?

I have a two bed flats.

An impossible question to answer as your property age/build/size and lifestyle is different to mine. Go to your local library and ask them if they have energy saving loan kits. You might be surprised what you can turn off without noticing anything but a cut in your bill.

It depends how much I use.

If I use a lot then I pay a lot, if I use less then I pay less.

In summer it's around £30 a month in the winter it can get up to £120 or more a month, depending on how cold it is.

Two bed flat as well and pay £624 with affect energy (£52 pm) have the heating on when ever I need it but do have a brand new boiler so is more efficient. I used to be a heating miser but now I just think that is stupid for a few £.

As Hengus points out, asking how much others pay is a bit of a pointless question.

It is like asking, how much others pay each month for petrol! Then wondering why you pay more than others. Without lots of other information, just the cost itself means nothing.

Without any context, it is meaningless.

I could live in a mansion, use the minimum amount of gas and electric possible and my bill maybe £800 a year.

Then you could have a person who lives in a tiny flat, but leaves everything on all the time, be on the worst tariff and the bill maybe £900 a year.

    The questions to ask are:

1)How much do you use in KWH per year?
    2) What is your tariff? (the actual cost)
    3)Type of property? Insulation etc.
    3)Living habits?
    4) Type of heating/hot water set-up and efficiency? Heating controls?

Because of so many variables, even then, it is hard to get a like for like comparison.

    Well, for electric i pay
Standing charge >9.42 p per day
    12.168 p per KW/h

    For gas;
standing charge 10.99p p er day
    2.595 p per KW/h

My monthly bill last month was £44.93 in total .
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Have you consulted a comparison site to ensure you are on the best deal for you?

What company and tariff is that? Sounds very reasonable.

This isn't the way to do it. The cheapest tariff varies with postcode and usage in kWhs/year. Choosing a tariff based on someone else's deal is fraught with problems. The most obvious one being that the tariff has been withdrawn.

I switched 3 weeks ago to Iresa; the tariff was withdrawn the following day and, if I was switching today, the cheapest deal on the market for my usage and postcode is Coop Energy. It would cost me £103 per year more.

Not sure who these people are, or where they get their figures from, but it may be worth a read.
