My wife has received her £10 XB payment from DWP.
When should I expect mine?
Do new state pensioners receive this?
Cheer am Merry Xmas everyone, fj

I presume if you defer your state pension you lose the £10 for every year you defer.0

That's correct, unless you are claiming any other qualifying allowance- it's all clearly shoes on the .gov page0 -

DEEPLY disappointed that neither of us deferred State pensioners will get the Xmas bonus this year!:rotfl:No extra holiday in the Sun then!
On a more serious(?) note -where is the logic in giving us the other benefits of being past SPA ie Winter Fuel Allowance, bus pass, eye tests etc but NOT the risable Xmas bonus?0 -
Because it was started in 1972 (before all these benefits as far as I am aware)?
And to save money I think.
£10 back then is worth about £119 now. Paying out £120 to everyone who get it is going to be expensive. There is a long list of people that can get it compared to folks on state pension.0 -

WFA is claimable by anyone born before 6 May 1953.
It's nothing to do with SPA.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

It's EVERYTHING to do with SPA - but because it's a relatively recent benefit (introduced in the late 1990's) it can't discriminate on the grounds of sex and so is awarded to both men and women who reach the SPA for women on the qualifying date each year.
5th May 1953 is the latest date on which a woman can be born and have reached her state pensino age by the end of september 2016, which is the cut off date for eligibility for WFA this year.0
