Speakers to use with computer?

  • I use a line from my PC to an old Panasonic portable twin cassette/radio. It was my 18th birthday present. I'm 46 in a couple of months. The occasional crackle can usually be countered by wiggling the on/off switch a bit. It was quite a good machine in its day, cost about £150 new. From Rumbelows, would you believe.

Looks like it's one step ahead of Bakelite now, but attracts more interest than the spanking new sound system I used to have did before it got wrecked by one of the rescue cats.
Signature on hold as I've seen no unused witty comments to plaigarise.

What sort of speakers or audio system do you use with your computer, laptop, mobile devices etc, please?

I use a 'proper' HiFi system in my study, with my PC.

NAD amplifier, Tannoy speakers. Couple of other music replay sources as well as the PC.

I've just set up Chromecast Audio (note this is different from the normal Chromecast and picked for £15 from Currys) with my mini separates which hardly got any use these days. You probably need to buy a connection from your stereo to the Chromecast. If you go down this route you need a 3.5mm stereo jack to twin phono.

I've had a Hercules 2:1 setup so long that I cannot remember when I bought them. Very good woofer with them, but I rarely use them now, I have a really good pair of Sony headphones and I generally use them.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
