  • Morning all

Tru, thanks for the carol, I end up singing them all day.

Hugs to LWW, Lainey, Coxy, Hilstep & the TA's.

Our old mortgage was paid off by the new mortgage yesterday, so our mortgage repayments have gone down from almost £800 a month to £250 a month, it will give us a bit of wriggle room whilst we assess our options.

I had hope to sleep better once the mortgage was sorted, but no, I had a bad night, I slept from 10 until 12, was awake reading from 12 until 4am, I had hoped to get a lie in as we have DGS12 staying and I didn't think he was likely to wake me up.
Well he didn't but my phone rang around 6am, it was my 2yo DGS, he'd got hold of his daddy's phone and decided to call me! Heyho, he's gorgeous so I don't mind.

I have all 4 of DD2's children tonight, she and her husband are going to his firms Christmas do, I have the food and entertainment all sorted. I have enough food in the freezer and cupboards to suit everybody's tastes an I saved all the paper offcuts from the guillotine last week and I have glue sticks, so we will make paper chains, we will make biscuits too and ice them.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

After the Drs letter yesterday, I decided to fill n the attendance allowance form on the computer, filled it all in and lost it......grrrrrrrr so I printed it off and will have to fill it in by hand.

Still in bed, there is laundry in the washer, will have to dry it inside I think, it's very grey outside, very little breeze.

OH has still not said anything about the Drs letter, I gave it to him to read and he has agreed to come with me to see our GP next week. Suppose I should be thankful for that!!

I am not saying anything to the children yet, will leave it till after Christmas.

Quiet weekend, I have several things I need to do, If the worst comes to the worst I do not want to leave a mess behind. All the problems seem to have happened in the last 18 months since I had the PM, the reports after that were all ok.

    Good morning,

JackieO thank you for starting the thread.

Hugs to those who need them and well wishes to the poorlies.

Happy birthday to those with a birthday.

Camelot I also sing the carol in my head. Beats "frozen" which has been going round and round in circles in my head for the last few days!

Today I had signed up for a trip to Canterbury with people from my church but pulled out because of DS's visit - and if I have to be honest, because of my low mood, I just can't seem to want to do much when I feel like this.

However I am pleased I have, because last night I managed to drag myself to yoga and felt much better for it, then we watched a DVD, very good thriller (Our Kind of Traitor from a Le Carre`novel) and went to sleep very late. This morning I could not have got up before 9 to get to the church meeting point!

I dragged myself out of bed, though, because I had to drop DH somewhere for some training he needs to do. I am glad I did because sometimes if I don't have something to get up for, a specific something I mean, I just don't manage to get myself motivated and linger in bed wasting precious time and lovely weather, like today.

About to put a wash on to take advantage of the good weather, in fact.

The pantry project is progressing veeeeeeerrrrry sloooooooooooooowly, in true DH fashion, being an architect always comes in the way of speed and common sense as he has to review and fix all the minutiae and tiniest of details that a normal person would just say, ah what the heck, and get on with it. It will be very nice when it is finished but ATM the kitchen looks like a bomb has fallen and I am not best pleased about it, on Tuesday the cleaner is coming to straighten up the house for our houseguest and catsitter while we are away, and won't be able to do much in this mess and mayhem. This state of things adds to my low moods, I hate this constant state of disorder because of always one DIY project or the other is in progress. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but this blasted pantry project has started what, two weeks ago? it is only a tiny space! Makes me think that if I had paid a builder I would be a couple of hundred pounds poorer probably but by now I would have a ready made pantry, cracks filled, shelves up, no mess anywhere. I was so excited when he started! I should have known.

I have all the figures ready to do my final accounts for the business I closed last October, mystery shopping. Unfortunately even for the tiniest mystery shop you have to keep accounts, I think I was making a profit of around £300 per year max, but had to keep accounts, I stopped because I could not be bothered anymore, and some assignments were just not worth the length and detail of report they wanted. It was becoming silly, too, DH and friends were having these lovely meals out and I was not enjoying it because I had to keep my eyes peeled for everything happening around me, then had to spend sometimes 2-3 hours, pages and pages of detail, then get paid £7 for the work. Now I have so many dietary exclusions, too, that it just is not worth it in every sense of the way. On a particularly cringe-worthy occasion I had a friend who really hadn't understood the spirit of the situation and started complaining, vociferously, about something that displeased her. I spent the rest of the meal absolutely mortified and gave her a piece of my mind when we left, told her that I had to report what happened and that if I did not get paid for the meal and fee she would have to pay me. Luckily the agency understood that it had been out of my control and they paid me. On another occasion I had a 4 people outing and the partner of my friend started saying he wanted to order more wine than we were allowed, saying loudly that he would pay for the extra and making himself very visible, really embarrassing. It took a lot of kicks under the table from my friend to bring him back in line. I just no longer have the patience anymore!

Ok, time to grasp the day, laundry at the ready.

    Have a good day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

OMG Caterina I wouldn't have the patience for all that, either. And to make such a pittance at it, as well! I still reckon dogs are a lot less hassle than humans! :D
And you know what - I'd have a real problem with low mood if I had a mess instead of a pantry two weeks from the start of the project. You cut yourself some slack, sweetie; I don't wonder you're feeling down! x

Our new house number has arrived - we have one up by the front door, but I wanted one for the front of the bungalow, as the door is hidden as you approach. Good old @mazon to the rescue - I managed to get a nice porcelain arch-style plate with a picture of a border terrier (a fairly generic looking dog iyswim, and he has a friendly little face) and the number next to him.
With the new company, the owners do their own transport for their dogs, so my hope is it'll make it really, really obvious which is the bungalow to bring the dogs to. :o
Mr LW is about to go and attach it to the front of the bungalow, as I type. :o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

  • Afternoon everyone, I did pop in very earlying but list my post and gave up.

Halfway through cleaning the bathroom, the door at the foot of the stairs has decided that it does not want to be opened SO OH who had shut it had to wield a screwdriver to let me and DS out of the stairwell so we could have a wee (one wee each). I need to make something to prevent us from closing it.

I too have the Christmas music in my head, at least I have had until a few minutes ago when OH decided to whistle Puff the magic Dragon. So seasonal.

JackieO, hope your day goes well, our city, Birmingham, has a large population of homeless people, as you might imagine.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Tie a sock around the handle so its on both side of the door:rotfl:

Good evening chums, well back home after our peaceful protest in Rochester, and surprisingly the only ones who seemed to take umbridge were some of the fancily dressed folk who were in the parade.Seems they didn't like the idea of people saying that as Dickens was keen on social reform it was weird how a 150 years later things hadn't changed a great deal.
Dressing up in fancy costumes and pretending to be the poor and down trodden in a town that is reasonably affluent seems more than a bit ironic.

A few weeks ago a young man died not more than a few hundred yards from where we were standing. He had been sleeping rough and had been down on his luck.

The local council are happy to turn a blind eye to their own citizens and pretend it will go away if ignored. We had about 40-50protesters and we were all handing out leaflets and getting signatures on the petitions.
The leader of the council actually looked away when he was leading the procession up the High Street past our banners, and several folk (not in the protest) booed him.

We had a good turnout and many folk signed and were quite interested in our aims. In the area there are around 200 odd homeless folk who tonight will be sleeping in doorways ,allotment sheds, old garages and under Rochester Bridge.
Even the local police are trying to help, and often bring them hot tea from their canteens

camelot I had to buy a bench type coffee table in the end for my new TV back in the summer I got it from argos and was very pleased with it. its called a Chunky TV Unit and the number on the top of the assembly instructions is 418/5897. Two shelves which is good and on the bottom one I have my Tivo box and next to it my DVD player and on the next shelf up I have my new sound bar and on the top I have my TV its long enough for me to have a bit of room left on one side to have my landline phone on there as well. Very sturdy and I'm really pleased with it
Just going to make a large pot of tea and then crack on with the ironing.
Hope things seem a bit brighter for you tomorrow caterina

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx
