    Not everybody is obsessed with privacy. .

    Not everyone takes other people into consideration.

    Of course councils maintain confidentiality, unless something has reached a court of law and their evidence is important.

    However, if the neighbour had gone down the route of asking for planning permission, your only way to object would have been to send your written representations to the council, when they would have been published for all to see.

    You have acted as an informant to the council, which is fine, but you have no right to determine what they do with the information supplied.
