House of Fraser share certificates

I am the executor for my late mother and I found among her financial records certificates for a significant number of House of Fraser shares. Since the firm still exists the shares should, presumably, be worth something. However the House of Fraser has changed hands on a number of occasions and was owned by an Icelandic firm and is now owned by a Chinese one, Sanpower. I contacted the share registrar EQUINITI but they said they no longer are responsible for House of Fraser shares and they could not tell me who is. How can I find out what, if anything, the shares are worth and how can I go about selling them?
Thanks,
Roy

from http://www.investegate.co.uk/house-of-fraser-plc--hof-/rns/scheme-of-arrangement/200611071306136321L/ , it appears that house of fraser was taken private for 148p per share in november 2006.
your mother may well have received the cash at the time. even though she still had the share certificate. they would probably have posted her a cheque automatically, without requiring her to send in the certificate.0 -
Thanks for the information!
