Aghhh... frustrated at Tesco Car Insurance .... and I havnt even begun the policy yet

Its the 2nd December now.

On 25th November, I took out a new car insurance policy due to start on 26th December.

I only included 1 year NCD, as was unsure about company car insurance being valid NCD.

After reading tesco t&cs, that company car insurance was valid, I telephoned Tesco bank to amend my NCB.

I was advised to send my NCD in. I explained that the previous year (2016) NCD would be explained on my previous insurer "Admiral" renewal letter. I also explained that separate to this, my NCD from my company car for the 2010 to 2015 period would be explained on a company letter. Tesco described the letter format, and I agreed it was suitable. All info submitted to ncd@tescobank.com, as required.

Today, I chased up my NCD. I'd heard nothing from Tesco. They said my company insurance letter was the correct format, but they wouldnt consider it, as it was a seperate letter to the Admiral letter. I explained I was advised this was ok earlier by Tesco, but the advisor would not listen, or allow me to talk to the department responsible for making this decision.

Why can't two seperate pieces of paper be accepted?
The evidence is there.
The telephone advisors apologise I was previously mis informed by Tesco bank.

I am extremely frustrated with this, and disappointed. I feel like cancelling this insurance, and my Tesco banking current account, 2 x savings accounts.

Seems computer says no, and no one wants to talk around the subject.

You had nil NCD when you went to Admiral with evidence of your claim free driving a company car.

That wasn't "proper" NCD, but presumably Admiral gave you some introductory discount to reflect your experience.

After completing one year as a policyholder they have correctly given you 1 years NCD which I all you have.

They are correct in not accepting two pieces of paper.

Do the shopping round research again with one years NCD and if its cost effective cancel now and go elsewhere

    Thanks for the reply.
I didn't think to try and apply the 5 yrs company car ncd when taking out the Admiral policy. It was only when taking our this new policy .... that is became aware of what other colleagues were doing and so have tried to use that.

The only other thing you could try is to submit the company car NCD letter on its own and disregard the 1 year from Admiral. This will still be valid on its own but they may not accept it because you have more recent NCD for the same car.

You could submit this again by sending it directly to the NCD email address with a small paragraph to explain the situation. This will then go directly to the department who has the authority to accept it or not.
