Hi guys,
I'll get straight to the point and hope someone can help me. I have read through various threads but still don't seem to know what my next step is. I parked in a private car park in June. My mate had previously parked there and said it would be fine (he has also been caught but has now stopped receiving letters ). I stayed for a number of hours (max 1 hour parking) . I ignored the first couple of letters as I have done with a previous fine until I started to panic. I looked up a company called parkingappeals.co.uk and paid £20 for them to try and help me with my case. You can't speak to anyone on the phone and they don't tell you anything. I have kept receiving letters and yesterday one came through from wright hassall. Although I believe this could be ZZPS because on the bottom of the letter in small writing and numbers ZZPS appears. The Car parking operator is Civil enforcement LTD and have me on camera leaving and entering the car park. Wright Hassall are asking for 236 pounds. I am now happy to pay a certain amount just for the stress to go away but not 236 pounds! I have not appealed to POPLA because I don't believe I have a case really and again I don't know if parkingappeals have done anything. Does anyone know if this company is a scam? And what could I do next?
Please Help! Thanks

Start by getting yourself into the Parking Tickets Subform and reading the Newbies Sticky - that will bring you up to date on the situation and lay-out your options from now-on.
However, if you are getting Wright Hassall and ZZPS letters, your range of options are probably going to be limited to the advice in post four.
You don't need to use a commercial appeals company for these guys at all - again, look at the recent CEL/WH/ZZPS threads (last couple of months) for the most current advice - there are loads of them!0 -
Thanks for the reply. I will go check that out again. My question was regarding the fact that I do have a parking appeal company involved so I wasn't sure if i should also get involved and if this has any effect on what happens?0

At the debt collectors stage, there isn't much that your getting involved can change - the Parking Forum is still the best place for info but I must say the subject of commercial appeals companies is fraught and much of it ends-up getting deleted because it tends to bring-out people with their own axes to grind.
TBH, you don't really need to use them as there is a lot of good info and willing help here for you to do it for free.0 -
Same problem!!
When I have heard from PPA which is only when i've really really hassled, I get cryptic emails saying they'll 'withdraw' if I do anything! Meanwhile there is no evidence that they've done anything at all - I had to appeal in the end as PPA had done nothing, and by that time it was too late!
Anyone having same hassle let's see if we can get in touch to see what we can do.
Don't understand why these fora seem to turn a blind eye to PPA and not come right out and condemn them so people know they should avoid them at all costs0 -

I'm really interested that you say posts re PPA get deleted because it 'brings out people with their own axe to grind'
What makes you say that? The only axe I have to grind is that PPA seem to be either dishonest or so incompetent that they shouldn't be running (?) a business, and they've got me into more difficulty than if I'd never gone to them.
Shouldn't people be warned? If not, do you know why not?0 -
No there is another aspect to how these firms have been used on here - but I'm not opening that can-o-worms just now!0

According to their T&Cs they have no presence on any fora. It's not that MSE turn a blind eye it's more that they have no right to reply here or any representative on these boards.
