'FREE' Holiday

I just wondered if anyone has had any experience of these so called 'free' holidays? You know the type where they pay for the travel & accomodation but you have to pay the booking fee & go along to a centre to arrange it all.

I received a call offering one of these deals. - apparently I had missed out in the star prize in a competition but this was a runner up prize. - I am fairly dubious about this kind of thing & the OH really isn't prepared to travel to the 'centre' to arrange it all. The person at the end of the phone insisted that it was a no purchase necessary deal but something tells me that this is a time share type selling scheme.

Any thoughts & experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks

    That's the usual and first lie.
    It's a Timeshare hard sell. :eek::eek:

    Avoid it!

    Don't waste your time, the best you will get is a voucher offering you the opportunity to part with more money, very few people actually get a holiday at all, and those that do, discover they could have bought it for less without the hassle. Everyone gets the 'runners up award' can you ever remember entering a competition in the first place or did they tell you it was months ago and maybe you forgot??
  • i had the same phone call,but being the inquisitive one i went along to the presentation. Hard sell but just keep saying no (they soon the the msg and i got a voucher for £25 each + taxes with free flights to tenerife, and we got tranfers lol ). I paid the money and got the dates i wanted plus good flights. These holidays are not for the people who can only go on school holidays or have special requirements.

    We had a fantastic time. Fantastic apartment, fantastic complex the works. All we had to do was have another presentation while we were there, but saying that we had free buffet breakfast, a tour around the other complex's which they had..... so a tour around the area bascially for free lol.

    They may not all be like this but from a very sceptical person i was well impressed and would do it all again. I think it cost us £108 in total for 1 week in Tenerife. So i would say why not try it..... you might be suprised!!!!
