Bailiff demand for previous tenants

Baillifs enforcing a civil debt don't need permission to be let in. If you refuse, they will get the locksmith to let them in.
Quite different to debt collectors who you can tell to !!!! off.0 -
Very confusing, you don't have to tel them who you are yet keep ID handy just in case.
I'm having the same issue, started with Provident loans (I'm convinced the name is for my next door neighbour). Anyway returned them, another one returned etc, now moved on debt collectors.
I did raise a complaint with Provident loans, as on their site they are door step lenders and you need to show ID at your house before granted a loan, so curious how they have my house number. They sent me a fraud form to complete, done this.0 -
OP, I would advise dealing with it head on
Either way - now or later, OP, you may well need to give your name. It is to eliminate you, and unless you have something to hide, I don't see an issue
When I first moved in here, I had a lot of issues.
There were multiple people from the previous household all getting debt recovery letters for thousands and there were letters turning up reguarly from multiple dept enforcement agencies
I had never been in this situation before
At first, I didn't open the letters and returned the letters 'not at this address''...and blindly assumed it would stop
But that doesn't stop them (why would it, it could have been the previous tenants) so eventually I opened one, and realised the extent of the issue
I didn't want the stress of knowing they could knock the door at any time, whilst I am getting ready for work etc
So I started calling the agencies as the letters arrived, most did accept my explanation, and that was the end of it, but I think two of them did want an email - a simple email
It took a long time to sort out, for the first 12 months, it seemed as soon as I dealt with one, another one would crop up and I was permanently on edge - I would never open my front door to a stranger
I would email them, get it done and dusted - and no you don't 'have' to - but they are quite within their rights to turn up at a time convenient to them, and request to see your ID - which is a situation I didn't wantWith love, POSR0 -

We had this when we bought a repossession. We just marked all mail ‘not known at this address’ and put it back into the post. We also, obviously changed the landline number.
As others have said they cannot come after you for the money. Just make sure you keep your ID to hand should any of them visit the house.0
