Car written off - no word from insurance?

I hope I'm posting this to the right place as I am becoming increasingly stressed due to the situation I am in and I don't seem to be able to get a straight answer anywhere.

I was in an accident a couple of weeks ago, called my insurance company to claim, who then passed me on to a 'middle man' company to arrange a pickup/delivery of courtesy car etc from an approved garage.

After my car had been in this garage for 2 weeks I had a phone call on a Friday morning directly from them telling me that they had submitted their assessment on my car to my insurer and were waiting for their decision. So I called my insurer on the Monday afternoon having heard nothing to find out what was going on. At this point they said they had not yet heard anything as most likely the garage report had actually been sent to the 'middle man' company for further assessment.

Yesterday I received a phone call again from the garage telling me my car was confirmed a write off and that they would be arranging to collect my courtesy car. This is where I'm unsure of how this is supposed to proceed. Am I not supposed to receive confirmation of the write off from my insurance company? My policy states I'm entitled to a courtesy car whilst my car is in for repairs or until it is confirmed a write off but my insurers haven't confirmed this?

I'm getting myself more and more worried about this as I really need a car to get to work and with a small child, getting access to childcare. I have also received a settlement figure from my finance company which is staggeringly high considering I only have 9 payments left on the vehicle but somewhere along the line I seem to have been shafted with regards to paying this car off. I've also been advised by my finance company that I have gap insurance so need to attempt to get a phone number and sort that too.

I'm basically just wondering if anyone knows my rights with regards to the courtesy car and generally how the rest of this situation should pan out because I have no idea.

Thank you and I hope this makes sense.

You look to have not claimed via your insurer but have used an accident management company.

You need to contact them now to find out what's going on

(If your insurer is handling your claim, then get on to their claims department now!!)

Depending on your policy the courtesy car maybe available whilst your car is being repaired. Now they know its nto being repaired the garage maybe saying they are not supplying it.

If you paid extra for the guaranteed car then it will be available until they make an offer you accept. Once accepted it maybe a case of OK we want the car back within 24/48 hours.

Whose fault was the incident and whose insurance are you claiming from?
