Morning, sorry to mither you good folks (again!), I have an old xp sp3 laptop bought off eBay that USED to play DVDs on media player, after downloading some codecs ( can't remember the source), but now all I can hear is start of video, no actual video, just a black screen! Have tried installing potplayer( same issue, black screen, sound but no video), vlc ( plays but sticks badly, there is 2gb memory and 65gb hard drive), and it all used to work fine! Done loads of virus scanning, maybe the scans deleted the codecs?!!!! It used to work seamlessly, have uninstalled and reinstalled media player and codecs, no joy. Have done usual stuff like resizing, pressing play in full, etc.....must be something simple, any ideas kind people???

VLC usually plays everything, while it is playing (and sticking) can you start task manager and report what %cpu and memory is being used please ?

Also, how full is your rather small hdd ??0 -
Long shot but try this (it should still be available to download!)
