Hi I'm looking for advice on a tool tax refund I'm due.
I tried to do a tax refund myself and didn't get anywhere
So I approached one of those companies that do it for you
The company was tax refund pro they only charged 15%
I applied to them on the 15th August
I didn't hear anything for a while then got a few letters from the tax office saying I was due a refund and that company was to get the payment
I phoned at the beginning of November and was told I was getting just under £500 because of a tax underpayment and they have sorted all that out
I was told I was getting a payment on the 18th November
The 18th arrived and no payment
So I contacted them again and was told there was a delay and it would be the 30th November
That's today and no payment. So I phoned the hmrc tax office and was told the company tax refund pro had received the money on the 26th October
And the amount was £881 and the tax office said the underpayment was nonsense
So at 881 minus the 15% is roughly 750 ish
So I phoned back up tax refund pro and was told I was getting 700 back
No the manager Lawrance is refusing to say when I will get my payment
They have my money and I want payment and for the right amount
I have recorded phone calls and texts to prove what's been said
Then after 26phone calls today
Lawrance the account manager says he can't see my payment and will need to investigate this tomorrow
Now do I seek legal advice, take it to court or travel down to see them

What does it say in the terms of your agreement with them about when your claim would be paid?

Legal advice would eat up £700 in no time, although Money Claim Online would be more cost-effective - before that though, send a Letter Before Action giving them a reasonable time (e.g. 14 days) in which to pay.

Better still, highlight your issue on their Facebook or Twitter pages, it's amazing how many companies spring into action when complaints are public!

Any of those options will eat up more money. Did you not seek advice on a forum before approaching acompany?
  • I wish I did seek advice before using this company
I noticed I'm not the only one getting issues with them. I Google the company name tax refund pro and reviews and someone else is having the same issues I'm having
  • Update finally got a response after questioning a member of staff then the accountant called me
I'm being told I'm getting a payment on the 14th of December so fingers crossed

They're probably setting up under a new company like "tax refund pro uk" while mugging you off, why would a payment take 2 weeks
