Help needed ref Lloyd's Bank

Options
So, here's the problem I will try & make it short-winded :rotfl:
I tried to reserve & pay for an item from Argos last Fri but due to 'system overload' (probs due to it being black Friday...!!) my reservation was not actually made however Lloyd's took the money from my available balance - currently my money, over £200, is apparently swinging in mid-air in the 'pending zone'..... Argos can't cancel the transaction as technically no transaction took place and there is no record of my reservation/payment as it didn't actually happen as the system crashed, Lloyd's are claiming it's down to Argos not them I'm being sent round in circles & all I want is my money paid back into my account
I just wondered if anyone knows how long Lloyd's take to pay an unpaid pending transaction back into my account - it's currently been 4 complete working days & I still haven't seen any of my money back in my account

For info my Account Balance is including the 'missing' £200+ but my actual Available Balance does NOT include it so I can't use it......so frustrating especially as Lloyd's told me it would be back in my account by Tues & it's not, feel like Lloyd's are trying to fob me off....any help gratefully received on letting me know timescales that I can realistically have to wait before the pending authorisation 'drops off' & the funds are returned to me - many thanks in advance :)

    Argos can't cancel the transaction
Yes they can, but the person you spoke to doesn't know they can. :)

You're at the mercy of Argos' merchant acquirer, but I'd expect it to be done automatically within 7 working days.

This is why an overdraft facility would be useful (you wouldn't be charged in this scenario), or, perhaps better, use a credit card.
  • OP Lloyds did not take the money but Argos reserved it.
It will drop off in the next few days.
  • Thanks for the replies ..... have just checked my bank (officially day 5 now) & my money has been 'returned'

In these situations, the funds are earmarked / authorised but haven't gone anywhere.
It's only the company (doing the earmarking) that can request it be removed.
