Cooker completely dead

Thanks. There is definitely power getting to the cooker because the timer display thing is flickering very faintly now.
My grandson is coming over tonight to see if he can sort it out0 -
Thanks googler. But the whole of the cooker is dead, not just the digital display thing. Neither the oven or grill have any function at all.
Yes, because they're under the control of the electronics behind the digi display thing, which has clearly been on the point of failure for a while.
As was said, above some/many cookers will not work without the co-operation of these electronics. Ours will not do anything without the clock being set.0 -
Internal Fuse ?0

Apart from having a bad connection (not impossible!) it will not be a blown fuse. Big ones for cookers and the like either work or are blown. Control unit is suspect especially as it is intermittent.
Local cooker/appliance repair shop? Where are you somebody might know of a good one?0 -
happened to me
It was the Timer Control Unit, fixed under warranty0 -
I got a repair man to have a look and he said it most likely is the timer clock thing, so it'd cost about £140 to fix it. In his opinion, not worth it.
So I'm sending for the actual spare part, costing about £50, should arrive tomorrow or Monday. It doesn't look too hard to fit. The cooker's only about 4 years old - seems a shame to chuck it, if it can be fixed.0 -
You might find a 'how to' video on Youtube if you trawl around a bit
HTH0 -
When the part arrives I'll let you know how I get on.0

Thanks bluesnake. Strangely, the cooker very briefly and spontaneously, came back to life! The timer display started flashing and I tried the grill to see if it was working.
It was. So I kept an eye on it for about 10 minutes, then it suddenly all went off again.
So looks like some kind of short circuit to me and I've got a feeling I'm missing something obvious. I don't want to buy a new cooker if it turns out to be a simple fault!
My money would be on a loose connection somewhere, mostly likely the plate or switch on the wall. A short would blow a fuse......
You need to sort this out asap because cookers use huge amounts of power and big power going through a bad connection is a recipe for a house fire.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

had a similar problem on ours, the unit connects using spade connectors so easy to change over. the hardest part was taking the oven out of the wallunit. needless to say but switch off the oven power off at the wall switch and to be sure at the fusebox/consumer unit.0
