We are sick of coppering up trying to find £1 coins. They cannot manage debit cards and stick to their budget.
We are responsible for their finances and are scrutinised by the local authority if we allow them to overspend.
When I worked in a bank I would have done this if you were a customer. If you weren't a customer I would probably have done it because we ended up with far too many coins (paid in by local shops) and we got charged to send them away.
You might have luck if you try a "proper" bank (i.e. not an ex-building society), ask at a quiet time and ideally have an account there.
You could also try asking your local newsagent or corner shop as they get charged for banking coins so might be happy to swap if they have too many.0 -
