COOP Energy saves the day for GB Energy Customers
CO-OP Energy saves the day, honouring existing contracts/prices, credit balances and the GB Energy staff!
Lets face it, our lights and heating were never going to go off but theirs might have potentially being out of a job just before Christmas. This is VERY welcome news to all concerned!
Well done CO-OP and not forgetting OFGEM who clearly have their heads screwed on and picked the right company! :T:T:T:T:T

You have obviously never had any dealings with Co-op Energy!
The shambolic Co-op will not be able to cope with 160,000 new customers.
Ofgem are a pathetic joke and switched customers with any sense will switch to a real supplier at the earliest opportunity.0 -

Well good luck to those previous GB energy customers mow being rescued by Co-Op Energy.
Co-Op Engery's track record does not bode well they have never improved their customer service for years and how on earth they think their system can cope with n extra 160,000 new customers beggars belief.
With regard to the refund of credit balances I had to involve the Ombudsman in order to get my credit balance refunded when I left them.
Supplier of last resort pretty well sums up Co-Op. Energy, I am amazed that Ofgem have appointed them when the number of complaints recorded against them over the years was so high, was it perhaps the only wayCo-Op could increase they customer numbers?0 -
To be fair to Co-op things do seem to have settled down a bit - there certainly isn't the noise on here that there used to be. Although that could be because everybody left.
Looking at the FAQ on gbenergysupply.co.uk it looks like they aren't planning to fiddle with the billing system for gbes customers, at least in the short term, so it should be ok.0 -
Ha ha! Good luck with leaving the Co-op. Hotel California springs to mind..0

To me, this seems perfect solution, I'm happy with it. They are going to honour Crystal fix..it's by far cheapest tariff. Bloke came the other week to check my meters and I told him their customer service is pathetic but they are cheap. .I've been doing it since I signed up with GB Energy, e..g 50 minutes on hold then told computer system is down and they can do bu**er all about my problem. At least I found 0800 number so although I wasted almost an hour of my life, I didn't pay for it.
I'm glad for GB staff if they are all being re-employed by Co-op.

Erm....
They are honouring our existing very cheap contracts/prices!
We get our credit balances back!
People kept their jobs!
OFGEM will be watching them like a hawk!
If they are crap, people can switch.... to a more expensive tariff elsewhere!
It could have been a LOT worse....it could have been Npower! I think in the grand scheme of things, I've won a watch and I aint complaining!0 -
The Co-operative group have had many problems of their own in recent times. In the past, the Co-op name was synonymous with reliability? They say they are trying to rebuild / turnaround the brand. Only time will tell?2014
Euan Sutherland quits the Co-op branding it "ungovernable". Richard Pennycook takes over on an interim basis and is later made permanent chief executive. Allan Leighton appointed as chairman.

When I got notified that GB Energy was jacking up prices by 30% I switched and I am not sure that I may have been caught out there. If I have then this is a right mess, GB Energy has on my account £85 credit now what I don't understand is how this comes back to me or if I will simply have to write it off.
I switched to GnERGY and got a lower fixed deal than I had in the first place. The company is run by ex Gurkha and like me a lot of ex military have gone over to them.0 -

That's the wrong Co-op!
Co-operative Energy is Midcounties, not Co-operative group.0 -
SO GLAD IT'S NOT NPOWER!!!
I was worried when GB Energy went and how much more I might end up paying, but Co Op energy and Ofgem.... what a pair of absolute legends. Fantastic news.0
