I felt like this at first when I joined my job but now I do have convos at times but my hearing issues make it harder. I Join in when I can understand what's going on. There's a few that I'm frosty with but it's rhawing out.
It will take time probably . Also new started are missed off the email lists as theh are are so used to the lists and haven't sent an email to them directly so it won't automatically come up.Mortgage free wannabe

The mindset of seeking approval through social niceties in the office is definitely counter-productive. Every person needs approval, and in your own personal circle of friends and/or family that's your social fix. In the office, the only approval fix you need is positive feedback on the work you've completed, or in the case of working for a crappy manager, a lack of negative feedback or being off the radar.Started 07/15. I have been at my company 3 years now and feel the same. I do a slightly different job to most people which i initially thought was the issue but like you I don't get included in outings / emails / birthdays etc. When I was off due to an operation nobody asked after me whereas another colleague got lovely flowers! I have to admit I am not a sociable person. Maybe that comes across.I do try to be happy and talk to them. I make tea and take in cakes etc but have just accepted I will never be in with them.
Fortunately for me I don't care too much. I go there to do a job and get paid and plan to leave next year anyway.
There could be a back story. Maybe you get paid more than them? Maybe someone they liked left and you ' replaced ' them? Maybe they know you are temporary so just can't be bothered. Could be anything but who cares. Work and go home. You don't have to be friends with people just because you work at the same place.0 -
It doesn't seem that important a problem to talk about if you're a regular poster. Why did you feel the need to create a new identity ?
shame and embarrassment. I think its bad that people do this then potentially are harsh on others with their main account.[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,
ah well, you won't need to get a secret santa, nor endure the Christmas night out, which, methinks, could end up trouble once the drinks start to kick in.
srsly? dude its gonna be awesome, cards against humanity and alcohol here we come.0 -
I know it sounds daft but I wonder if you're coming across as too confident?
When I started my current job seven months ago I was perhaps quite loud for some people's tastes and noticed there were several people who never gave me the time of day (other than dirty looks).
Only recently (in the past few weeks funnily enough) have two of them started to thaw somewhat; whether it's because I've calmed down or am no longer the 'new guy' I don't know.
However as pointed out above we should just turn up to work, get our job done and go home again. Easier said than done, granted, but it's a sad fact of life-just focus on what you need to do.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

i have new people pass through my team at times, most we are fine with, others we are not, as i said, if the face doesn't fit or you feel a bit off with them then you wont make the extra effort.
not sure what else to say, you've been there a short time, work hard, show you are capable and maybe with time they will warm to you.
You must be a lovely person to work for.
You say that you have a team? Does the rest of your team have the same problem as you with written English - use of capitals, spelling and punctuation, or maybe you all get on well because you have the same attitude towards temps.
Whatever this attitude is, it doesn't really make for a productive workforce.0
