Balance Transfer from a Newday Account possible?

Hi Guys.

I have read many threads on here before posting and couldn't find the same predicament mentioned.
I used to have a PaypalCC that as many people have mentioned then got transferrd to Santander then Newday. I have recently got a 28 Month 0% Balance transfer card and transferred one balance but wanted to transfer the remaining £500 from this account also. Newday did not give out a new CC card when they took over so all i have is a 16 digit account reference.
So today i phoned Newday and asked if possible,, they said yes you just need the 16 digit number..
Ok so online to TSB i went and it wont accept transfer without expiry date,,, tried a random month and 2017 expiry no go.. Phoned TSB and they say that they need an expiry date and 3 digit security number to do the transfer,, she also mentioned that it was a storecard and i said no it was a mastercard originally when took out with paypal..

I'm guessing The Newday guy was lying!?
Anyone had a similar experience and or solution?

Cheers in advance.
