Noisy neighbours/ living in a flat

live in a flat, my downstairs neighbour who is unemployed watching tv loud all day/ night and play music loud. Is there anyway I can soundproof my flat without taking up the floorboards? Has anyone got any experience with living with noisy neighbours and how they cope when trying to sleep at night?

Do you own the flat? Be careful if making complaints as you will need to declare this when selling the flat. There's lots on google about soundproofing floors / ceilings. Maybe use earplugs until you can sort this out. Good luck0

Earplugs and a radio. Distant radio noise helps me ignore any noise that gets through the plugs and annoys the noisy ignoramus.0

a "noisy ignoramus" is such a superb insult, would it be ok for me to use that one at the next suitable opportunity? :jMr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
You're welcome to use it but don't expect it to be understood.Mr.Generous wrote: »a "noisy ignoramus" is such a superb insult, would it be ok for me to use that one at the next suitable opportunity? :j0 -

Maybe, make a diary of when these events are occurring in ordering to support your case. You can install a decibel meter using an app in order to quantify the impact too.0
