Noisy neighbours/ living in a flat

live in a flat, my downstairs neighbour who is unemployed watching tv loud all day/ night and play music loud. Is there anyway I can soundproof my flat without taking up the floorboards? Has anyone got any experience with living with noisy neighbours and how they cope when trying to sleep at night?

Do you own the flat? Be careful if making complaints as you will need to declare this when selling the flat. There's lots on google about soundproofing floors / ceilings. Maybe use earplugs until you can sort this out. Good luck
  • Earplugs and a radio. Distant radio noise helps me ignore any noise that gets through the plugs and annoys the noisy ignoramus.

He's abviously a !!!!, just go and threaten him with extreme violence. Or just put up with it. Your choice really.

a "noisy ignoramus" is such a superb insult, would it be ok for me to use that one at the next suitable opportunity? :j

You're welcome to use it but don't expect it to be understood.

I've never lived in a flat, but as i get a bit older i think about downsizing, then it's posts like this one, that make me have second thoughts.
