Martin is always recommending which bank accounts to use for those who have more money than me! What would he recommend for a widow who is getting the basic pension and a very small pension from the husbands work. Plus my son, who lives with me pays half toward the bills.? Used to be with Barclays for years but changed to Halifax when they were giving £5 per month, now dropping to £3 - is this still best for me l wonder??

How much did you have left at the end of last month? How much do the pensions pay?
Same questions for your sonMortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)0 -
I think you still are doing fine with Halifax, however you might consider Tesco bank- I mean as well as H rather than instead of.
Whatever savings you have (if any) again would reap a little more in a clutch of current a/cs rather than savings a/cs (generally unless you have a great regular saver)
Q: Do you pay income tax?
Reason I ask is that you can now/ would still be able to claim back the part that Halifax pays the taxmen- presently £1.25, I think.
If you have any spare cash then I would be syphoning that into a Tesco current a/c- paying 3% currently on up to £3K. No monthly payment or DDs requiredBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
