"FM" codes for collection

My local sainsburys are offering the click and collect service for Ebay items which is bloody handy.
I ordered an item last Tuesday It has a "your item is being processed" note on it. I left it until Sunday as I appreciate people have lives too and I know its not always easy to get to the post office. I emailed them to ask when they are likely to be sending it, they said it had been sent and was showing ready for collection there end?! I cant collect it without the FM code but the seller doesn't seem to know what this is? Any ideas how I can polity ask him to figure it out?

I haven't used or even heard of the Sainsburys scheme, but if it is the same as the Argos one then there is no way at all seller can access the collection code. That would be a scam waiting to happen!
If you phone Sainsbury's, whoever deals with the collection point , they should be able to find the item and scan it and generate the code.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for the reply. Its because Argos have been bought out by Sainsburys and they are now offering this service.
Further research suggests that when the seller sends something to a collection point they need to add some sort of code when posting(?) which then in turn generates the code via email to say it is ready to collect.
I have been in to store and seen my item but they wont let me have it without the code.0 -
I used click and collect a few years ago and was led to believe by Argos that when they received the item they generated the code in some way. I went to get my item on the day it 'said' it would be available for collection not knowing anything about a code and they checked through the days deliveries and found nothing. I eventually got a code a few days later which unfortunately arrived after the day I needed it for.
I would never use the service again as my item would possibly have arrived in time if it had been delivered to home.0 -

If the seller has not added the original code to the address label then Sainsbury's should return it to the seller if they can't generate a collection code without it. That sending code though has nothing to do with the collection code, that is only generated when sainsburys scan it on receipt.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
