Debenhams/Appleyard Flowers - warning!

I am getting my daughter a flower subscription for Christmas and having looked at various sites and cashback deals decided on Debenhams. I signed up for an account, chose all the details, entered payment details and went to submit the order. However when I clicked on the button nothing happened, the button indented as though it had been clicked but then just popped up again. I tried it again and no joy so tried logging out and back in, still the same.
At this point I phoned their customer service line for the first time, took a while to get through but the lady took my details and confirmed that no order had been placed. I was advised to try a different browser. I thought the problem was my end so I then tried three different browsers on 2 different machines and a different payment card but the same thing happened each time. I called the helpline again, explained to another advisor and she said she'd look into it but again checked that no orders had been placed.
I gave up and chose another company, appleyard flowers, as they had a similar cashback rate. Soon found out why, their ordering system seemed very familiar and when I went to submit the order the same thing happened!!!
I figured maybe they were owned by the same company or something so back to the drawing board, went for a different company again (bloom and wild) for a much lower cashback rate but happily no probs at all submitting the order. :T
Unfortunately that isn't the end of the story as this morning upon checking my accounts online I found - as you've probably guessed - multiple payments to debenhams flowers!!
I've spent the best part of the morning back and forth with the helpline, explained multiple times and the long and short of it is no orders have been placed, I'm not on their systems and my daughter certainly wouldn't have received any flowers from them but they have none the less taken payments to the value of nearly £1000! It's all being refunded (yet to sort appleyard, on that next!) but please be warned because obviously I wouldn't have kept attempting to place the order if I'd known. Just as well there was enough credit available on the card I used or this could have been even worse!

ETA: same deal with Appleyard, no order placed but account charged. They're apparently looking into it.

My advice is to not click on the button like in the situation the OP describes.0

I've used Debenhams flowers often with no problem. In fact, I ordered two Christmas arrangements for presents yesterday.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
