Car insurance for Nissan Navara??

My huband drives a Nissan Navara (pick up truck) bought in 2005. Insurance renewal is due on 8 October and I'm trying to shop around to beat our renewal quotation from Direct Line. However most of the recommendations from this site don't have the Navara listed as an option under Nissan (Moneysupermarket, Confused.co, Tesco etc..) I'm getting very frustrated! I'm assuming they don't insure these vehicles? I don't have time to ring them all individually to compare. Anyone got any experience with these vehicles, a good company to try? Many thanks.

Can you not just enter your reg and let it find it automatically on confused.com etc?

None of the sites will find the vehicle from the reg.no. I just get a message saying "your vehicle cannot be found, please try entering the make and model" and so it goes round in circles.

The Nissan Navara is a massive vehicle and is not often used as a private car. With vehicles like the Navara, Ford Ranger, etc you will probably not be able to get online quotes - as the Navara is not listed on the ABI private car database ( found at http://www.abi.org.uk/carinsurance/search.asp ).

Your best bet is to call as many insurers and brokers as you can.

Problem is that the Navara started off as a commercial pick-up. It's popularity rocketed after company car taxes were increased and people realised that it would only cost them a flat rate of £500 in tax instead of thousands for a Mondeo etc.

Unfortunately the insurance industry lags behind current trends and isn't responsive enough which is why it's often not listed.
