Car reversed into me and left

Hi all. Just wanted some quick advice. Was leaving rhis morning to go on school run. Pulled up at juntion of my road, at a stand still, and a van in front had attempted to join the traffic on the adjoining road. The vehicle in traffic didnt let him in, and he found himself blocking traffic. He then went on to reverse out of road, straight into me! I was beeping and everything and still went into me. I got out of car and there was some kind of miscommunication, as he asked me if everything was ok ( i presumed he meant my child), so i said yes and went to double check on my son. As i was in car, he jumped in his van and left! Someone has said im gonna find it hard to prove i didnt go into back of him. There was a witness on scene, who seemed hesitant to get involved for some reason. How do i go about this? Havent called insurance company yet. Worried it might go against me. Thanks in advance

  • P.s I got a photo of the van before i shot off so have his details and therefore proof he was at scene
  • First step is to go to the police station and report it.

But remember he may have just left after you said every thing was okay. Do you have any damage
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Hi ya. Yeah he was eastern European so maybe a language issue. He was asking if we ok, But there is damage. Few scratches and a crack in bumper. So surely he should have known to swap details

As long as you have his reg details you can trace his insurer (via Askmid) and make a claim against them direct.

As you have damage then you need to report this to police asap as advised #3

(If you do decide to pursue a claim like this then you do need to report this to your own insurer)

This happened to me last month, car was parked when neighbour reversed into it.

In this case the van driver, may have been without insurance or have been without a driving licence. Well done on taking photos or the van,

should be straight forward. I'm amazed that people say it's just a scratch and that they know a mate who can fix it.
  • You said everything was fine he left simple. So it was not a hit and run

Sounds like there is a language issue. There's a big difference between "is everyone OK?" and "is everything OK?"

This type of thing happened to me years ago. It could be a false whiplash claim in the making. This is a good earner but insurance companies are wise to it and if he puts in a claim that you went into the back of him this will ring up alarm bells. Get onto your insurance company asap.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.
