Halifax time scales

Hi

I'm just wondering has anyone got a rough idea of Halifax timescales. Valuation has been done and two searches by Halifax on my credit file, one says mortgage application the other, first time mortgage.

Last week they asked for a letter from employer explaining a £1 discrepancy between payslip and bank statement. Payslip stated £1733.34 but I received £1734.33, basically done to an admin error by our administrator.

Me nor the broker have not heard anything since letter went in last Thursday. Just wondering has anyone had a recent experience?

Thanks

  • Your broker should be calling Halifax.

I can send a document up today and get them to check it there and then usually.

  • I thought that would be the case, but he just text me this morning to say still waiting. my employer hasn't been contacted either. I suppose its just one of those things that take time with the underwriters.

  • Doesn't have to be the case, I've had Halifax email employers for references whilst waiting on the phone.

A bit of gentle pressure on your broker may be required ;)

Is the mortgage amount above or below £350k?

Ok, so it's standard and not Premier.

Did the case have to be referred to credit decisioning or a business assessor on submission?

Depending on timing, we may still be within the 48 hour SLA for a document to be received, added to the case and a business assessor referral made/actioned.

  • Yes it was referred after full application, further documents like bank statements payslips were asked for. Then the latest letter. I just feel i'm so near the end and can't stop thinking about the house we've an offer accepted on. I know its the same story for everyone but getting a text from broker saying its just a matter of waiting was kinda disappointing. I'm really appreciative of everyones advise on this forum and the advise i got along the way.

I think it varies on a case by case basis. I know with us after the valuation was done we got the mortgage offer from Halifax within 5 working days.

Yes it was referred after full application
In which case, every time something happens, it has to go back to the BA to be signed off again.

No-one can do anything about this. It's just one of the joys of mortgage broking...

  • Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll put it out of my head and wait the phone call or letter of offer.
