nw london -renting a room/haggling the price

looking at rooms to rent on spareroom and gumtree in west london and north london. For a single boxroom the prices i've seen are at least 100 pounds a week. Usually that, for say, harrow, wembley, golders green etc. But yesterday my friend told me they can get a single for 67. So it got me wondering- is it normal to haggle the price down from the online website prices ?? So for double's also, i see room's about 150. Is that a normal price or can you bring it down to 120 a week

Depends on how easy the landlord finds it to let at the price they have asked. If the landlord can let the room easily at the asking price they aren't going to give anyone a discount. You do have to find out where the single is. If it is in a garage or a shed with no heating and is let illegally then it may not be the bargain you think it is.

Where are you living now? Can you stay there? London is a very expensive place to live. Unless you already have a job that you are moving to London for the kind of jobs you can get easily don't pay very well when you take into account how expensive living there is. There won't be much money left over.

Is a job in London worth the high price of living in a box ? If you could get a similar job, elsewhere, you could find a nice flat or even a whole house (probably ex-LA) for £100/week.
