New Build / NHBC / tenants compensation process

If you want to compensate your tenant, then that's your business decision as a goodwill gesture towards keeping your customer happy.
No more, no less.
No, you can't pass that expense on to your suppliers...0 -
The only way a legal claim could have been pursued would be if
* the property was uninhabitable - in which case your insurance should have covered alternative accomodation
* damage was done to the tenants' property durng the building work, or they suffered some other quantifiable financial loss
So unfortunately it's down to you to compensate them for the inconvenience if you feel it is appropriate, but you won't be able to pass that cost on.0 -
I've now been in touch with the insurance firm loss adjuster and he has said that the insurers 'may consider a reduction in rent payment' and have asked for a copy of the tenancy agreement.
This has been sent over and I shall see what their position is.0
