Identify Asbestos Wallpaper?

Hello, New to the forum so please educate me if I blunder :)
I am purchasing a house that has been heavily wallpapered and I plan to remove as soon as possible, DIY possibly. As the house is 1960's I'd like to know if there is any possibility of asbestos in the wallpaper removal. I understand this can't be definitively decided sight alone but if anyone has any info on this kind of wallpaper I'd really appreciate knowing more about what I'll be dealing with.
*uhoh to new to post pictures, but can anyone say what the likelyhood of wallpaper being an issue is? Maybe I can post pictures soon :)
Thanks all!

What type of wall paper is it? Vinyl or paper / wood chip etc?

I don't believe you can. If you are serious about buying the 1960's house then get a full asbestos survey...................and mention the wallpaper. I'm 100% confident a property of that age would have it and although it is usually fine left alone in good condition you never know what work you want/need to do. You can use it as a tool to get a deduction and know safely that your home is safe.

  • Not being a fan of wallpaper, I'm not too sure. I think some woodchip, some seems to be vinyl faced, some papery, all is older aesthetics probably a mix of 60's - 80's.
I have been getting quotes for an asbestos survey and will have this done once we have possession, I guess it's the evil you cant ignore when a house needs some updating! stebiz - 100% = cringes!!
    Was it common in wallpaper?
    Appreciate your time answering!

The only downside to getting it done when you get possession is that if it has got asbestos and 1960's it was all the rage, then it can cost thousands to remove. Like I say it's all fine until you find you want to do extensions/renovations etc when you find many turn a blind eye {foolishly), have no idea or have to spend a fortune. I've bought numerous properties and had surveys done. Gives you an idea what your dealing with, As for 1960's wallpaper I'm sorry but I don't have any info on that.
